Position Summary
The position hires, develops, and monitors performance of the production workers and leads the creation of a positive working environment. This position is one of the key management members that ensures the safety of all employees. Oversees and participates in the manufacturing of products as determined by production schedules, forecasts, and work orders.
Principle Accountabilities
Ensures the overall safety of the plant. Maintains a safe and clean work environment for all employees and ensures that the Supervisors and Foremen are doing the same. Ensures employees are aware of all of the job hazards unique to each position.
Conducts regular safety audits and tool box meetings. Assists in maintaining all safety documentation for the site. Rectifies any unsafe working conditions or equipment identified while working with Maintenance.
Reviews production orders and schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan plant operations. Works with the Plant Manager and General Manager to forecast labor, special projects, revenue generation, and profits. Reviews production reports, time sheets and Bill of Materials (BOM) for accuracy. Coordinates shift work plans with employees and Supervisors/Foremen.
Ensures continuous improvement, process improvement, and quality of products and services. Reviews manufacturing processes and operating reports to identify possible solutions to processes that can reduce costs, ensures quality, and prevent operational delays. Understands and follows standard operational and working practices (SOP) and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards directly or through Supervisors/Foremen. Interfaces with internal customers and, when required, external customers to ensure needs/goals are being met.
Oversees the plant and manages through Supervisors/Foremen. Interviews, hires, trains, plans, assigns, and directs work; motivates, evaluates, rewards and disciplines employees. Interfaces with Human Resources and branch management regarding employee performance related issues and addresses each situation appropriately. Coaches the Supervisors/Foremen to monitor and reward performance of employees. Adheres to the Cardinal Rule of Conduct and holds others accountable to the policy.
Leads the activities of employees; provides assistance to workers engaged in production activities; troubleshoots worker and production problems and recommends solutions. Engages in interactive communication. Trains workers in production methods, operation of equipment, safety procedures, and company policies. Monitors comprehension and re-trains as necessary.
Properly operates all tools and equipment based on safety procedures and specified guidelines. Maintains organized area and properly stores tools, materials, etc. Cleans working area by sweeping excess debris on a continuous basis to ensure a safe work area.
Qualifications
Position Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated supervisory experience. Other desired qualifications include but are not limited to:
Experience: Between 5 and 10 years.
Ability to read and interpret production drawings.
Bilingual in English/Spanish – Preferred.
Experience working with a Quality Control program.
Experience working with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word Processor).
Strong communications skills to include both verbal and written communication.
